The Austrian Cultural Forum, Austrian Embassy Washington, and Forum Theatre present the first performance of this American translation of Surfacing  (Auftauchen) as a part of International Women’s Voices Day, sponsored by the National New Play Network and the New Play Exchange®, as a part of the 2018 Women’s Voices Theater Festival.  Join us for this staged reading and meet one of Austria’s most exciting female playwrights, who will be in conversation with the audience after the show. A unique play about invisible people – alive, yet not present in everyday life: a mother seeking asylum, a young man hiding from blood-revenge, a young woman kidnapped and locked up in a basement.  This powerful play captures loneliness and hope though voices that have been ignored for too long.

    Featuring:

Lia Johnson, Kevin E. Thorne II, Rachel Manteuffel

With Tobias Huber, Ivan Zizek, Salvador Fawkes, Domonique Gay, Karen Elle
