This “heartfelt infusion of poetry, dance, and song“ (DC Theatre Scene) originally
produced as part of the Capital Fringe Festival 2011 as Colored People Theatre’s
inaugural production is making a fierce reappearance at Round House Theatre
Silver Spring this December. The production is directed by Jamil Jude and features
the original Capital Fringe cast.
The production and surrounding discussion events promise to be the perfect kick
off for Forum Reverb’s Female Voices Festival. With events throughout December
and January the festival will investigate the gender imbalance in theatre through a
celebration and exploration of the female voice. For colored girls…, a seminal work
that has influenced every generation’s study of race and gender since its 1974
premiere, kicks us off with discussions about whether we see this play as only a
play for and about women of color and why.

Tickets are $15. December 14th is a PWYC preview performance. $10 tickets are
available for RH Subscribers and Forum Theatre members.

-There will be a reception following the performance Thursday December 15th in the
theatre

the two shows.
